Navigating the world of English Language Development (ELD) can feel like learning a new language itself. Whether you are a veteran educator or new to the classroom, understanding the specific tools & frameworks our district provides is the first step in helping our English Learners (ELs) thrive. This foundational session is designed to provide a clear, practical roadmap of the essential supports available to you and your students.
You will experience - through a fun hands-on activity - about an excitingly fun way to add creative play (#1 way of increasing IQ!), increase student self-motivation, & use as an assessment tool, all in a fun & engaging activity that does not require extra classroom time or $! Can be used as a regular assignment, in their center rotations, or as a specialty creative project!
3rd - 12th Grade - Any & ALL Subjects welcome
Watch your students' desire to learn 'come alive' as you are teaching! Students will WANT to learn so that they can use the information to then CREATE! You can then use their creations to assess how much they've learned!
If you can bring an iPad that would be great! I'll try to have some! This is a hands on workshop! you can work by yourself, with a partner, or in a small group,...but you can also just watch!
This will be a reflective session for all ranges of teaching experience. The session is geared for teachers but any one is welcome. Participants will work in groups according to their teaching experience as well as individually to reflect on their school year. During the session they will develop or update their teaching philosophy statements and set goals for the new school year. There will also be an opportunity to share best practices for engagement and motivation or other strategies that may help achieve individual goals. The session will also provide an opportunity to learn what our teachers need in professional development throughout the district.

Motivating and engaging students seems like a full time job in teaching. This session will focus on how to purposefully plan lessons to include motivational and engagement strategies. Teachers will learn a framework for motivation: Inclusion, Building a Positive Attitude, Making meaning and engendering competence and practice planning lessons that include these motivational foundations. Teachers will also share best practices for motivating and engaging lessons and strategies.

This is an interactive, workshop style session. After a brief demonstration of effective prompting techniques, participants will use their laptops to actively co-plan and revamp an upcoming science unit from their own curriculum. This session will show teachers how to use generative AI as an expert co-planner to instantly design active, age-appropriate science experiments using materials they already have in their classrooms.
